Most of these old entertainment units have removable shelves, which makes prep easy. However, the one I found didn’t! I actually had to use a sledgehammer to get them out, so just keep that in mind when you are thrifting for your piece—check those shelves first!

Painting

Once the unit was cleand and prepped, I painted the entire exterior and main body in Sawmill Gravy by Dixie Belle. It’s a great neutral that brightens up the piece. For the back panel, I wanted some contrast to make the glasses pop, so I painted that in Coffee Bean by Dixie Belle. I made sure to use a brush that would lay the paint into all the nooks and crannies for a smooth finish.

Step 3: Lighting

Lighting is what really turns a piece of furniture into a “bar.” I bought these industrial Lights for the cabinet, which meant I had to do a little drilling. Using a Drill Hole Kit, I drilled a hole through the wood to feed the cord through the back so it stays hidden and clean.

I attached the hole saw to my drill a cut the hole right through the back of the entertainment center. You can purchase this kit at Amazon by clicking here

Step 4: The Finishing Touches

The Set of 2 Wall Mounted Wine Racks were the perfect find for this Wine and Whiskey Bar

Decanter from Amazon

I found this gorgeous decanter on Amazon that fit perfect with my theme.

I absolutely love how this turned out. It’s functional, stylish, and gives new life to an old piece of furniture!
